Zantingh Grading System

To bring some clarity on how your cull animals will be graded, we have prepared a grading system below.  

The weight ranges that are used are determined at our stockyards assembly point in Wyoming, Ontario on our government-inspected scale.

GRADING SYSTEM

We have taken a moment to write our grading system on paper, to bring some clarity and communication to our customers. The weight ranges that are used are determined at our stockyards assembly point in Wyoming, Ontario on our government-inspected scale. The following describes our grading system:

SOWS »  
Jumbos 600 lbs and up - fat, dry, good cover
No 1 Sows 500 lbs - 599 lbs - fat, dry, good cover
Wet No 1 Sows 500 lbs - 599 lbs - fat, wet, good cover
Lean No 1 Sows all sows 500 lbs and up with marginal cover
Big No 2 Sows 420 lbs - 500 lbs - fat, dry, good cover
Small No 2 Sows all sows under 420 lbs - fat, dry, good cover
Wet No 2 Sows All sows under 500 lbs with good cover and wet
Lean No 2 Sows all sows under 500 lbs with marginal cover
No 3A Sows

Gilts 275 lbs - 310 lbs - never had pigs
Markets 230 lbs - 270 lbs
Other Sows Will be individually graded
 
BOARS »  
Light Boars 160 lbs - 300 lbs - good cover
Medium Boars 301 lbs - 350 lbs - good cover
Big Boars 351 lbs and up
   
LIGHT HOGS »  
Light Market 215 lbs - 229 lbs – good bodied
Light Market 201 lbs - 214 lbs – good bodied
Light Market 151 lbs - 200 lbs – good bodied
Market Hog Rupture 230 lbs - 270 lbs - pig with small rupture
Light Hog Rupture   light market with small rupture
Other Hogs Will be individually graded.
   
BBQ HOGS » (Certified and Drug-Free)
Light Oversize BBQ 110 lbs - 125 lbs - good bodied pigs
Heavy Oversize BBQ  126 lbs - 150 lbs - good bodied pigs
Shop BBQ 90 lbs - 109 lbs - good bodied pigs
Light Shop BBQ 66 lbs - 89 lbs - good bodied pigs
Oddball BBQ 30 lbs - 65 lbs - good bodied pigs
Plain Pigs 30 lbs - 145 lbs - so-so cover
Boning Pigs Will be individually graded
